Create greeting cards: Senior Helping Hands-Recovery Plus provides support, information and counseling to older adults and their families who may be experiencing chemical and/or mental health problems. Volunteer your card-making skills by creating new greeting cards out of old cards once a month as a fundraising project for the program. Grant wishes for children:Make-A-Wish Foundation of Minnesota is offering an opportunity to create hope, strength and joy for a child battling a life-threatening medical condition. Wish granters sign up to help grant the wishes of children in their area by meeting the child and their family, helping the child determine his or her wish and then helping make it come true. Wish-granting volunteers work in teams of two or three to plan and fulfill each wish and have the opportunity to make the wish as unique as each child. Wish granters also act as the liaison between the family and the foundation and assist in seeking donated goods for the childs wish. A five-hour training is required before becoming a wish granter. There will be training Aug. 27 in St. Cloud. Wish Granters should possess a love for children, excellent people skills, creativity, a desire to give each child a magical wish and the willingness to look for in-kind donations. Food shelf needs your help: The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to prepare well-balanced food bags and distribute the bags to families waiting for their orders. Additionally, volunteers are needed to help unload donations and stock shelves with new items, keep the food pantry clean and remove expired products from the shelves. Opportunities are available Monday through Friday. Volunteers must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for long periods of time. Contact Barb Nelson, The Salvation Army at 252-4552.
Share your talents: Do you have a musical and/or entertaining talent you can perform? The Good Shepherd Community is looking for talented individuals to entertain residents and guests. Musical talents may include playing piano/organ, accordion and guitar. Musical groups, dance teams, magicians and artists are encouraged to call ahead to allow time to prepare for a show.
