Oil women to meet Wednesday at noon
The Desk and Derrick Club of Wichita Falls will hold its July meeting at noon Wednesday at the Wichita Falls Country Club.
The program will be a video from the ADDC Library. Reservations should be made by calling Shirley Bridwell at 397-8600.
Program will cover a variety of snakes
The Friends of Lake Arrowhead State Park and the Rolling Plains Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalist, Laurie Hall from Vernon will present a program on Texas snakes at 6 p.m. Saturday.
The program will be in the dining hall at Lake Arrowhead State Park. Topics will cover venomous and nonvenomous snakes and Laurie Hall will showcase some of her award-winning photographs, most recently published in the May 2011 issue of Texas Wildlife.
The Friends of Lake Arrowhead is a newly-formed organization and holds meetings at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at Lake Arrowhead State Park's dining hall. Its goals are to promote support of Lake Arrowhead State Park so that future generations will be able to enjoy our natural resources.

Justin, like everything else, opinions are just that, opinions. In my opinion though, there's no better eating freshwater fish than crappie, dipped in Cajun batter and deep fried. Since those sand bass you have down there are crappie cousins, I'm certain they'll be delicious table fare as well. Largemouth bass are just OK for me, but they're nowhere near as good eating as crappie are. Well, at least IMO. I agree. I dont think you can get much better than some nice buttery flaky crappie fillets. I dont ever keep the largemouth for the frying pan. they dont have much flavor and i just enjoy the catch and release for them. it has been to long since i have had any sand bass on my plate so i cannot speak for their taste. but i will let yall know after i get a mess of them. have you ever tried the zatarans crispy southern fish fry mix?
