Police probe report of someone climbing radio tower

Kendall County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a witness report of someone entering a secured fenced area at 8:51 p.m. Friday and climbing an FCC radio tower in the 9000 block of Penman Road, Yorkville, deputies said.

Batavia

Police responded to a complaint of 30 cars looking as though they were ready to race at 11:19 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of Pierson Drive and found one driver leaving the area at high speed with no headlights. Matthew E Burdzinski, 21, of the 1200 block of Mistwood Court, Yorkville, was charged with fleeing/attempting to elude police and speeding. Police said cars were staged in the area when squads arrived.

A woman’s purse containing personal identification was stolen Saturday night from an unlocked vehicle parked at Hall Quarry Beach pool in the 400 block of South Water Street, police said. The purse contained multiple credit cards, a driver’s license, work identification, a son’s birth certificate and Social Security card, as well as the car’s title.

While investigating the possible theft of an air conditioning unit Friday night from an unoccupied residence in the 1300 block of Thoria Drive, an open rear door to the home was discovered. Police did an interior check and secured the door. Police said they attempted to contact the home’s owner about the air conditioning unit.

An Apple laptop computer valued at $500 and two watches of unknown value were stolen in a residential burglary Friday in the 200 block of North Batavia Avenue, police said. A rear window was broken to gain entry, causing $1,000 damage. The burglary occurred between 5:30 a.m. and 9 p.m.

LaSalle County

Adam M. Sobieray, 23, of Sugar Grove, was charged with DUI, driving with a blood-alcohol content of more than .08 and improper lane usage at 3:10 a.m. on Sunday on Route 71 in Mission Township, sheriff’s deputies said.

Oswego

Sterling A. Winters, 24, 2600 block of Village Green Drive in Aurora, was charged with driving with a suspended license at 12:54 a.m. Saturday on Route 34 near Ogden Falls Boulevard.

Sandwich

Cherlynn P. Larson, 25, 300 block of Colstopn Street in Yorkville, was charged with criminal damage to property after an incident Friday night on the 1000 block of East Railroad Street.

Common Twitter scams include: Hijacked Accounts: The hijackers typically use your account to send out DMs or tweets to ensnare others. Imposters: Imposters impersonating well-known persons are set up all the time. Sometimes they are mistaken for the real persons, and even make news. Worms: Twitter has been plagued by worms, which spread messages encouraging users to click malicious links. When one user clicks, his account is infected and used to further spread the message. Soon his followers and then their followers are all infected. Phishing: Hacked Twitter accounts are used to send phishing messages, which instruct users to click links that point to spoofed sites, where users will be prompted to enter login credentials, putting themselves at risk of identity theft.
