Imaginea tipica a spitalului romanesc este cea a cladirii dezolante, unde lipsurile sunt la ordinea zilei. Medicii buni au plecat, nu sunt bani pentru medicamente iar aparatura este invechita. Care este realitatea? "Ca medic, pot sa spun ca exista trei lucruri care i-au lipsit tot timpul sistemului: viziune, consistenta si coercitie, fara de care nu ai cum sa faci performanta", a precizat specialistul Radu Gorduza.
"Pana cand nu se va stimula initiativa privata prin introducerea unui sistem privat de asigurari astfel incat investitorii sa fie stimulati sa aduca banii in tara si sa creeze infrastructura de sute de milioane de euro pentru acele spitale la care visam cu totii si pentru care unii din noi platesc atat de mult ca sa mearga la Viena, in Germania sau in Franta, nu se va misca nimic". "Nu as vrea sa fiu invechit folosind sintagma <<noi nu ne vindem tara>> , dar partenerul public trebuie sa inteleaga ca cele 50-100 de milioane de euro pe care un partener privat le investeste intr-un spital de aproximativ 200 de paturi trebuie sa fie balansati de o oferta onesta. Asta inseamna punerea la dispozitie a veniturilor necesare pentru ca acest spital sa functioneze", a mai subliniat Radu Gorduza. When last we saw Logan-6, a Deep Sleep Operative also known as a Sandman, he was seemingly on the verge of fleeing the world of the Thinkers for the unknown wastelands of Sanctuary. Only one kill away from becoming the greatest DS Man of all time, Logan chooses to go rogue before his 21st birthday, his Last Day. But, is Logan’s run merely a rouse to seek out and destroy those that live in the unknown lands outside of civilization?
Issue 2 of Bluewater’s Logan’s Run: Last Day delves deeper into the history that created the world we witnessed so vividly by artist Daniel Gete and colorist Joseph Baker in issue 1. The bleak aftermath of all out nuclear war has devastated the planet. Over time mankind has managed to climb out of the radioactive wastelands of Earth’s cities to create a new world where every person knows their proper place, and no one lives past the age of 21. However, there are those who choose to avoid their Last Day and run. Logan-6 intends to put a stop to all running, forever.
Paul J. Salamoff continues to intrigue the reader with a gripping story that never lets up. Considering the vast, and at times dated, material of the original Logan’s Run and its two sequels, Mr. Salamoff has managed to harness the backbone of the story and make it his own. My only complaint being I have to wait to see where the story goes. Is Logan truly out to destroy Sanctuary? Or is there some distant shred of conscience that lurks in his seemingly cold heart?
As with issue 1 I have to say that I really dig Mr. Gete’s artwork. This is the futurist Utopian city I envision in my head when thinking of a world perfect on the outside, yet crumbling moralistically. Joseph Baker’s rich colors only add to the level of futuristic fantasy that is Logan’s Run FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND (words and distinctive lettering design) is a registered trademark of Philip Kim.
