A Dog's View On: PAWS in Manayunk
This Saturday Main Street is all about your pets. Treat them, bathe them, and dine with them from 12-4 p.m. as Philly PAWS takes over Manayunk.
From April through October, Manayunk hosts ' Second Saturday ,' each month with a different focus and theme. The second Saturday in July is geared toward pet lovers. Philly PAWS (or Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society) will invade Main Street with vendors, dog washes, and of course, adoptable pets.
Join guest Wendy Rollins from Radio 104.5 as she leads the Pet Parade, where every participating pet will recieve an entry into a raffle full of great prizes. Before joining the parade, head over to the Canine Clippers tent where these local pet groomers will be hosting a charity dog wash to benefit Philly PAWS. A suggested donation of $10 will pamper your pup just in time to strut down Main Street.
Grab a pupcake, then learn something new from the folks at Opportunity Barks. Pupcakes, Bits & Pieces , a Philly-local company that produces gourmet, homemade dog treats, will have a table set up with plenty of treats to purchase for just a few dollars each. Take home a few free tricks and training tips from Leigh Siegfried, owner of Opportunity Barks . Leigh will be hanging around answering dog training questions of all sorts.
Take the kids over to the Roxborough-local dog walkers tent, Walk This Way , who will be paiting faces all day long. While you're there, gather some information about their services, and see how your pooch may benefit from a mid-day walk while your at work.
And finally, don't forget to support Philly PAWS, the city of brotherly love's only No-Kill shelter, by making donations, and maybe even adopting one of their great pets. PAWS will have an array of gear on sale, everything from bracelets, pins, umbrellas, and t-shirts (for both pets and humans!) and all proceeds will continue to allow the non-profit to help homeless animals.
